On May 7, 2024, an extended meeting of the University of Technology Management Board with the new Minister of Science and Higher Education, Dariusz Wieczorek, was held in the University of Silesia library. The meeting was led by His Rector Prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk. The meeting was joined by Deputy Minister Prof. Marek Gzik.

The minister presented interesting ideas for the development and promotion of Polish science. He also announced an amendment to the Higher Education Act.

The meeting was an opportunity to present the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Prof. PŚ Klaudiusz Fross postulate, which has been put forward for years by the architectural scientific community, including the Forum of Deans of Architecture Faculties, to include creative achievements in the evaluation of the Architecture and Urban Planning discipline. The Minister listened to the arguments presented in the statement of the Dean, Prof. PŚ Klaudiusz Fross and the Chairman of the Disciplinary Council Prof. Krzysztof Rostanski World Cup. Architecture is on the border between science and art, and the lack of recognition in the evaluation of creative achievements is unfair and significantly reduces the value of the discipline.

The meeting was an opportunity to present our most important demand, that creative achievements should finally be recognized as an element of evaluation. I'm glad I had the opportunity to express this view. I hope that the new minister will support the introduction of this good change.
