A lecture delivered by prof. Carmelo D'Agostino - invitation
We cordially invite you to the lecture of prof. Carmelo D'Agostino entitled "Virtual reality and simulation as a tool", which will take place on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 14:00 in room 174 (ul. Krasińskiego 8, Katowice).
Carmelo D’Agostino is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at Lund University in Sweden where he is the leader of the Traffic Safety and Behaviour group inside the Transport and Roads Division at the Faculty of Engineering. In this capacity, he is the initiator and coordinator of the Traffic Safety Virtual Reality Hub at Lund University. His main research area is traffic safety and performance-based highway geometric design. Carmelo is the principal investigator of several research and innovation projects at the Swedish national level and European levels. His research mainly focuses on Surrogate Measures of Safety and their application to future mobility scenarios including the increasing transport automation and connectivity. Dr. D’Agostino is the PI of SUperSAFE (SUrrogate measures for SAFE autonomous and connected mobility) project, a European Research Council Grant, the most prestigious research grant in Europe and one of the most prestigious worldwide. He has authored about 40 papers in recognized high-level journals, with several presented at international conferences. He is a handling editor for leading journals in the field of traffic safety and is the founder and editor of the Traffic Safety Research: An International Journal.
The visit was financed as a part of the implementation of tasks in the pro-quality program dealing with investments in the development of internationalization with the funds of the Excellence Initiative - Research University program.
