The new name of the Faculty – Faculty of Materials Science and Industry Digitization

The Senate of the Silesian University of Technology has adopted a resolution to change the name of our faculty. The Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering will now operate as the Faculty of Materials Science and Industry Digitization.

This change emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of the research and education conducted by our academic community. The new name reflects both the strong traditions of materials science and the dynamic developments in the areas of digitization and automation of industrial processes, which are key to the transformation of the economy towards Industry 4.0 and 5.0.
Our faculty brings together specialists in materials science, metallurgy and recycling, production engineering, and industrial computer science. By integrating these fields, we can develop modern technologies that support industry in the areas of advanced materials, intelligent manufacturing processes, and digital engineering tools.
Combining the knowledge and experience of our staff and doctoral students allows us not only to implement top-tier research projects but also to educate future engineers prepared to address the challenges of the modern economy.
Under the new name – Faculty of Materials Science and  Industry Digitization– we further emphasize our mission of supporting innovation and sustainable industrial development.
