Professor Iskierka - Katowice's Beboczka Joins Our Community
A new, unique character has appeared at our Faculty – Professor Iskierka. She was created specifically for the Faculty community to symbolically connect the worlds of science, technology, and human sensitivity.
The character was designed by Grzegorz Chudy – a renowned Katowice artist, watercolor painter, and illustrator whose work has for years showcased Silesian culture and the symbolism of beboks.
Professor Iskierka is not only an ambassador of science and good humor, but also a true Katowice Beboczka – inspired by Silesian tales of beboks, formerly portrayed as mischievous yet kind spirits inhabiting tenement houses and city alleys. Today, beboks have become a symbol of Silesian identity – combining a commitment to tradition with an openness to modernity. Professor Iskierka embodies precisely these values. This small figure embodies everything that defines our Faculty: curiosity about engineering, concern for the future, the brilliance of technology, and order amidst the chaos of data.
Professor Iskierka will accompany members of the Faculty community at events, in announcements, promotional materials, and videos. She aims to inspire questions, approach science with passion, and remind us that even the most demanding fields of knowledge can be filled with warmth and a smile.
Don't be fooled by her size – this spark has power. It symbolizes the energy, creativity, and community that shape the daily life of our Faculty.
This is just the beginning of Professor Iskierka's story. We encourage you to follow her adventures and discover together how much science can have in common with heart and character.
