Qualifications of biomedical engineering graduates
With great satisfaction, we would like to inform you that by the Regulation of the Minister of Health (Dz.U. z 2023 r. poz. 1515), graduates of biomedical engineering have obtained the qualifications of a biomedical engineer and can be employed in health care units in the following positions:
- junior biomedical engineer - bachelor's or engineer's degree in "Biomedical Engineering",
- biomedical engineer – M.Sc. in "Biomedical Engineering", specializing in "Medical Engineering", 3 years of work.
The legal regulation of employing biomedical engineering graduates results from an initiative undertaken ten years ago by the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering (Prof. M. Gzik - then dean). The efforts were carried out in cooperation with the academic community of all faculties providing education in biomedical engineering and with the support of the Committee of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The solution provides clear information about the possibility of employing biomedical engineers in medical units. It will enable introducing innovative technologies and medical devices to healthcare units. Such activities will also enhance the integration of physicians and engineers working to improve medical services provided to sick and disabled patients. It relates to the quality of diagnosis, eliminating unnecessary procedures, shortening the treatment process, and bringing economic benefits.
