The Chemistry Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (KCh PAN) announces a call for applications for the first edition of the Alicja Dorabialska and Józef Hurwicz Award for the Popularization of Chemistry.

The Minister of Science and Higher Education has assumed honorary patronage of the inaugural edition of the Alicja Dorabialska and Józef Hurwicz Award for the Popularization of Chemistry.

Guided by a concern for the development of the chemical sciences and the conviction that presenting chemistry in an accessible manner is the best way to popularize it and build awareness of its key role in the modern world, the Chemistry Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences established in 2025 an annual, nationwide Award for outstanding achievements in the popularization of chemistry.

The main goal of the new KCh PAN Award is to honor individuals who are actively involved in activities aimed at popularizing chemistry and/or the history of Polish chemistry.

A wide range of popular science activities may be submitted to the competition in two categories: individual or team. Eligibility for the KCh PAN Award in 2026 is based on outstanding popular science activities during the three calendar years preceding the year of application (2023–2025).
