CorrDay 2026 Summary!
The echoes of the Corrosion Awareness Day celebrations are still resonating
On 24 April 2026, a ceremonial event concluding the fourth edition of CorrDay 2026 - organized by the Corrosion Research Laboratory - took place at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Silesian University of Technology. A lot was happening!
The ceremony was filled with activities. Behind us are popular‑science lectures, chemical demonstrations, and the resolution of competitions. The lecture entitled “Modern Coating Systems in Corrosion Protection: From Molecular Mechanisms to Intelligent Coatings of the Future” was delivered by dr inż. Marzena Nowicka‑Nowak from the Paints and Plastics Centre of the Łukasiewicz Research Network. Guests also had the opportunity to hear what corrosion sounds like, during the presentation of results from the experiment “The Wavelength of Corrosion,” in which we tested the sound of corroded guitar strings. There was no shortage of awards, because - as the saying goes - CorrDay is associated with corrosion and competitions!
CorrDay is more than just a ceremony. As part of the CorrBench initiative, we restored a bench in front of the Faculty of Chemistry and mounted a plaque featuring the winning quote from the competition “Golden Thoughts That Do Not Corrode.” If you spot the colorful bench bearing the slogan “Przy[Cu]p[Ni]j,” (take a seat in Polish)don’t hesitate to sit down and reflect on CorrDay. The author of the winning motto is Anna Byczek‑Wyrostek.
The art competition “Painted with Rust” caused quite a stir among participants
Among many outstanding works, the following were awarded link:

- I Prize: Agata Czekaj „Czas Korozji wokół nas”
- II Prize: Milla Pache „Korozja Duszy”
- III Prize: Natalia Rycerz „Artystka rdzy”
