Project Based Learning (PBL)
Our PBL:
Development of a technological concept for the recovery of nickel from waste
- Testing the removal of phosphorus (V) from fresh and sea water using biopolymer materials
- Chitosan-based hybrid sorbents for the separation of ions with similar physical and chemical properties
- Kinetics of phosphate(V) sorption and desorption on chitosan hydrogels modified with transition metal ions
Project Based Learning (PBL) is learning through the implementation of projects. It is a method of transferring knowledge and acquiring competences and qualifications through independent work of students in a certain pre-defined period of time in order to solve a problem, i.e. implement a project.
The student has the opportunity to individually approach a given task (problem) and develop his or her own effective path and method for solving it, which is then presented to the group and confronted with the position of the project participants.
In addition to expanding knowledge, the PBL method helps students develop many soft skills needed in the 21st century at subsequent levels of education and professional career, such as: working in a group, synthesizing information from various sources, making decisions and taking responsibility for them, planning and organizing work and appropriate time management and meeting deadlines. This method also teaches the art of argumentation - formulating and expressing your opinions. It also shows you how to prepare and deliver a presentation and, very importantly, build your self-confidence.
