ANNOUNCEMENT

DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF CHEMISTRY OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

announces the competition for the position of research assistant

in the Department of Physical Chemistry and Technology of Polymers

at the Faculty of Chemistry, at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St

within the research project funded by the National Science Center

 

Job description:

  • the competition for the position of assistant is open to persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339 as amended),
  • estimated work commencement date: 01.05.2025
  • workplace and type of contract: Department of Physical Chemistry and Technology of Polymers at the Faculty of Chemistry, full-time contract of employment
  • period of employment: 18 months

 

Tasks:

Research work will be done within the framework of the NCN Sonata Bis project „Multilayer electroactive coatings with hierarchical structure for controlled delivery of” (2021/42/E/ST5/00165). Employee will be performing studies aimed to design new materials being the carriers for neurotransmitters, able to release biomolecules in a highly controlled manner with the use of an electric trigger. Work tasks: characterization of cell response under in vitro conditions, biocompatibility assessment (LIVE/DEAD, Alamar blue), cell adhesion (immunostaining), glial scar studies (immunostaining), inflammatory assays (PCR), electrophysiological studies (calcium imaging).

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in biological sciences, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, medicinal biology, or related.
  • Experience in molecular biology studies (biocompatibility tests, immunostaining, etc.).
  • Motivation and engagement in research.
  • Independence, good organizational skills, team working skills.
  • Fluency in English.

Additional requirements:

  • Peer-reviewed scientific publications.
  • Experience in the realization of research projects.

The University offers:

  • employment contract for a period of 18 months,
