The 1st Edition of Interdisciplinary PBL Projects at Silesian University of Technology Has Started!
Do you have an idea for solving a real technical or social problem? Would you like to gain project experience, cooperate with experts, and develop future-oriented competences? Silesian University of Technology is launching the 1st edition of interdisciplinary Project/Problem Based Learning (PBL) projects implemented within the framework of the project “Silesian University of Technology as a Center for Innovative Education for a Sustainable Economy” (CIK ZG).
This is a modern educational approach based on the methodology developed within the international ENVIHEI project “Student-centered learning for ENVIronmental sustainability at Higher Education Institutions” implemented under the Erasmus+ programme.
PBL projects are based on working on real-world problems requiring creative thinking, interdisciplinary cooperation, data analysis, experimentation, and the design of innovative solutions. Not only the final result of the project is important, but also the entire process of reaching the solution. Students will work in teams of 4 to 6 members under the supervision of two tutors (facilitators) and experts representing the socio-economic environment. Projects may be implemented in cooperation with companies, institutions, and foreign universities.
We invite full-time undergraduate and graduate students participating in the CIK ZG project to take part in the initiative. The invitation is also addressed to teaching and research staff from all faculties and institutes of the Silesian University of Technology interested in acting as project supervisors.
The deadline for submitting project topics is May 19, 2026. Recruitment of students for PBL teams will continue until June 4, 2026, while the list of qualified projects will be announced on July 8, 2026. Project implementation will begin in the winter semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
