Registration for the Three Minute Thesis® competition for PhD students is in progress
The next edition of the Silesian edition of the Three Minute Thesis® competition, addressed to doctoral students of universities from the Silesian Voivodeship is approaching. Applications can be submitted until October 31st.
Three Minute Thesis® is a competition in the field of scientific communication. The task of the participants is to present in 3 minutes the issues related to the doctoral thesis in such a way that they are understandable and accessible to non-science recipients.
The Silesian edition of the competition is open to PhD students from universities and branches of the Polish Academy of Sciences of the Silesian Voivodeship and people carrying out doctoral theses at the M. Skłodowska-Curie National Institute of Oncology in Gliwice.
Participants register their participation via the registration form: https://www.polsl.pl/rjo7-cpn/rejestracja-three-minute-thesis/. Then they will participate in the eliminations on November 16th at 10:00 in the Centre for New Technologies of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, presenting the topics of doctorates in front of the jurors and participants. The jury will select 10 finalists who will meet during the finals on November 29th at 19:00 at the Student Culture Centre “Mrowisko” in Gliwice.
The event is a unique opportunity to test competences in the field of dissemination of knowledge and self-presentation, share with other interesting scientific ideas, and win attractive prizes:
I place – 6000 PLN
II place – 5000 PLN
III place – 3000 PLN.
In addition, finalists can also receive an Audience Award and an Engineering Award.

The organizers of the event are the Science Popularization Centre of the Silesian University of Technology and The University Self-Government Council of the Doctoral Students of the Silesian University of Technology. The event is implemented in the City – Region – Academy band as part of the celebrations of the European City of Science Katowice 2024. The event is co-financed by the Silesian Voivodeship - Co-organizer of the European City of Science Katowice 2024.
