Mobile laboratory of Silesian University of Technology: “Xperium SUT” is ready to go into the field
Silesian University of Technology can boast of a new vehicle, which acts as an extraordinary laboratory on wheels. Xperium SUT has already completed its first trips to Gliwice schools. The vehicle with the laboratory on board is ready for action, you can rent it and go into the field with a promotional initiative.
The new vehicle in the fleet of the Silesian University of Technology is an unusual mobile promotional laboratory of the Silesian University of Technology: Xperium SUT. The vehicle will soon be available in various locations in the region.
- “The Xperium SUT mobile laboratory is a vehicle (Peugeot Boxer car) with a hinged side wall and an expanded platform. Both the interior design of the vehicle and the equipment in various types of installations allow easy change of configuration and demonstration equipment appropriate to the given subject” - says Prof. Zbigniew Paszenda, Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Investment at the Silesian University of Technology, and adds that the car is environmentally friendly.
- “Equipping the vehicle with photovoltaic panels ensures the possibility of using electricity even when access to the power source is difficult. This ensures the expansion of the possibilities of attractive promotion and popularization of science in the field in all conditions” – assures the Vice-Rector.
The car can be used, among other things, to promote the University, fields of study, results of scientific research and to bring science closer to the public. It will also be possible to perform experiments in it by the laboratory staff and visiting guests.
The mobile promotional laboratory of the Silesian University of Technology – Xperium SUT has already completed its first field visits. The vehicle visited Gliwice schools in order to promote the educational offer of our University.
The car can be used not only in the vicinity of primary and secondary schools, but also in parks, galleries, stations, fairs, and other events.
Xperium SUT is located in the Car Base of the Silesian University of Technology. This is a Peugeot Boxer vehicle with special body, equipped with basic installations with the possibility of easy change and replenishment depending on the promoted theme. Cars can be rented free of charge upon prior notification of such a need.
Xperium SUT is designed to conduct promotional activities of the University and popularize science, practical teaching during classes in the field by performing laboratory experiments, presenting research results, disseminating the activities of the Silesian University of Technology.
The unit responsible for making Xperium SUT available is the Promotion and Communication Centre. Applications for car rental should be addressed to the Director of this unit. The appropriate form and the order along with the rules of using the mobile car are below.
