Major in biomedical engineering with a Certificate of Educational Excellence
The field of biomedical engineering run by the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology received the Certificate of Educational Excellence in the category "Excellent field of study - excellence in education in the field". The decision to grant the certificate was made by the Presidium of the Polish Accreditation Committee and is the result of the visit of the Polish Accreditation Committee, which took place in 2022.
The importance of the award is evidenced by the fact that the Committee (PKA) awards, on average, about 20 certificates a year, and this applies to all universities in Poland and all fields of study related to all fields of science.
PKA certificates, the only institution formally and legally authorized to evaluate fields of study, are awarded in four categories:
- Excellent major - excellence in education in the field of study
- Always for the student - excellence in supporting student development
- Open to the world - excellence in international cooperation
- Partner for development − excellence in cooperation with the socio-economic environment
The field of biomedical engineering, run by the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology, was awarded in the first category. The Presidium of the Polish Accreditation Committee appreciated:
- structure of the study program: concept, learning objectives and learning outcomes;
- implementation of the study program: program content, schedule of study program implementation and forms and organization of classes, teaching methods, apprenticeships, organization of the teaching and learning process;
- admission to studies, passing particular semesters and years, and diplomas;
- competences, experience, qualifications and number of staff conducting education as well as development and improvement of staff;
- infrastructure and educational resources used in the implementation of the study program and their improvement;
- quality policy, design, approval, monitoring, review and improvement of the study programme.
