Intarg®2023 Silver Medal for the invention by Electrochemistry Group

We are pleased to announce that the invention of the employees of the Electrochemistry Team from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Electrochemistry was awarded the Silver Medal during the 16th International Exposition of Inventions and Innovations INTARG® in Katowice.

The event took place at the International Congress Center in Katowice on May 24-25, 2023 and attracted crowds of science, technology and entrepreneurship enthusiasts of all ages. There were also guests from abroad among the participants of the fair.

The awarded invention "Method of producing porous oxide layers on aluminum containing polymeric corrosion inhibitors" was reported by Maciej Sowa, prof. Wojciech Simka and Aleksander Olesiński.

The authors of the invention themselves say that: "the method consists in coating aluminum elements using a modern galvanic process. Plasma is formed on the processed details, which replaces the action of harmful compounds used in competitive techniques. After the process, a simple method of sealing with corrosion inhibitors is used, thanks to which harmful substances remain in a closed circuit. These types of coatings are hard, abrasion resistant and extremely durable to corrosive environments."

It is worth recalling that the invention was created during work on a project, financed by the National Center for Research and Development under the 11th edition of the "LIDER" program (project number: LIDER/30/0116/L-11/19/NCBR/2020; project value and funding: PLN 1.5 million; period 2021-2024; project website: https://www.polsl.pl/rch1/projekty/lider_30/; project manager: Maciej Sowa)

Congratulations on your success and we wish you more!

During the Exposition, there was also a Conference organized by the Center for Incubation and Technology Transfer of the Silesian University of Technology. Electrochemistry Group leader, Prof. Wojciech Simka, was one of the panelists on The results and successes of the program "Incubator of Innovation".
