Submit your entry to the 6th edition of the 3MT® competition
The 6th Silesian edition of the Three Minute Thesis® competition is starting. We invite PhD students from Silesian universities and branches of the Polish Academy of Sciences to participate. Applications can be submitted until October 27th.
Is 3 minutes enough time to present a PhD thesis? Every year, the participants of the Three Minute Thesis® competition find out about this, who first talk about their research work in front of the jury and then in front of the audience.
The idea of 3MT® is to present the topics of doctoral theses and related activities by young scientists in such a way that they are understandable, accessible and interesting for recipients not related to the academy.
The Silesian edition of the Three Minute Thesis® competition is open to PhD students of universities and branches of the Polish Academy of Sciences located in the Silesian Voivodeship. Registration can be made until October 27th via the application form.
Eliminations will take place on November 4th, 2023. The final - to which 10 participants selected by the jurors will qualify - is scheduled for November 17th.
The 3MT® competition was initiated at the University of Queensland in Australia in 2008 and since then has been popular at many foreign universities. The Silesian edition has been held since 2017 and is organized by the Centre for the Popularization of Science and the University Council of the Self-Government of Doctoral Students of the Silesian University of Technology.
The event is a great opportunity for young scientists to test their competences in the field of scientific communication and popularization of science. It also allows you to develop skills related to self-presentation and dissemination of research results to a wide audience. It is also a chance to win valuable prizes - the winners receive cash prizes. Finalists may also receive an audience award.
