Studies Cognitive technologies and social media are an interdisciplinary combination of knowledge from psychology, management, computer science, artificial intelligence and social communication and media sciences. It will help you understand how cognitive technologies function and how they can be used, and combine such broad knowledge with the possibilities of social media.
These are first-degree (bachelor's), full-time, three-year (6 semesters) studies, classes are held in Zabrze, at the Faculty of Organization and Management, in the complex of the Silesian University of Technology at 26-28 Roosevelt Street.
Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the studies, some classes (especially laboratory classes) can be held at the university's campus in Gliwice.
Cognitive technologies?
Cognitive technologies is an interdisciplinary field of science that deals with the development and application of algorithms, tools and systems based on theories from psychology, neuroscience, computer science and artificial intelligence. It can be used to model, interpret and automate complex cognitive behaviors such as thinking, language comprehension, image and sound recognition, decision-making and learning. Cognitive technologies, combined with specialized human knowledge, enable the development of tools and methods that give the ability to automate processes and their use in various fields, such as management, information technology, marketing, financial services, digital security, or effective training.
Examples of cognitive technologies currently include various implementations of artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning using neural networks, speech and image recognition, natural language processing, data analysis tools such as chatbots, risk assessment and recommendation systems. Cognitive technologies are currently the basis for solving a variety of business and scientific problems, and importantly, they have the potential to significantly impact our daily lives and work.
As part of the course, the student chooses one of two diploma paths (specialization):
- Media monitoring and analysis - a specialty devoted to marketing research and advertising in social media, media image research methodology, analysis, monitoring and quality control of media messages,
- Information and communication technologies - a specialty focused on marketing research in information and communication technologies, soft skills work in ICT, research methodology in this sector, and ICT project management.
Take a look at the list of subjects that will be implemented during the course of study.

- Cognitive load management: the ability to maximize cognitive functioning and assimilate multiple stimuli using a variety of tools and techniques;
- Virtual collaboration: the ability to work and collaborate virtual and hybrid reality, in an efficient, engaged and safe way for individuals and the team.
After completing the first degree, there is an opportunity to earn a master's degree in engineering with a two-year second degree, majoring in Cognitive technologies.
