Cooperation between NIO-PIB and the Faculty of Organization and Management at Silesian University of Technology (WOiZ PŚ) within the project “EUnetCCC Joint Action: European network of Comprehensive Cancer Centers (EUnetCCC)”
The Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Institute of Oncology – State Research Institute (NIO-PIB) is implementing a European project titled “EUnetCCC Joint Action: European network of Comprehensive Cancer Centers (EUnetCCC)”. The project is funded by the EU4Health programme, the largest EU health initiative for the years 2021–2027.
The project involves 163 partners from 31 EU member states. The project leader at NIO-PIB in Gliwice is Dr. hab. Dorota Gabryś, Professor at NIO-PIB, Chair of the Silesian Branch of the Polish Society of Oncology (PTO), and President of the Silesian Branch of the Polish Society for Radiation Research (PTBR).
As part of Work Package WP7: “Governance, Membership and Engagement of the EUCCC Network”, staff from the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology (WOiZ PŚ) have joined the project: Dr. hab. Aleksandra Kuzior, Professor at PŚ, Prof. Dr. Serhiy Lyeonov, Professor at PŚ, Dr. hab. inż. Józef Ober, Professor at PŚ, and Dr. Dariusz Krawczyk.
The main goal of the project is to create a coherent and integrated consortium of Multidisciplinary Cancer Centers across Europe, ensuring that patients, regardless of their location, have access to high-quality cancer care. This network is also intended to serve as a platform for mutual collaboration, where oncology centers can share knowledge, experience, and best practices.
As part of the project, a European Network of Multidisciplinary Cancer Centers will be established to facilitate the exchange of experience and knowledge, ultimately leading to:
-
reducing inequalities in access to diagnostics, therapy, care, and clinical research,
-
improving the quality of scientific research outcomes,
-
integrating clinical care and scientific research, and evaluating cancer care across the EU,
-
establishing 100 multidisciplinary cancer centers in Europe by 2028.
