Study visit of Logistics students at the Klimzowiec Sewage Treatment Plant
Students of the Bachelor's degree in Logistics on 13.01.2025, within the subject of City Logistics, had the opportunity to visit the Klimzowiec Wastewater Treatment Plant in Chorzow. The visit was an extremely valuable experience, which allowed them to gain practical insights into water and wastewater management processes and technologies used in wastewater treatment. Wastewater disposal logistics plays a key role in urban infrastructure management and environmental protection. It includes a range of processes and activities to move wastewater efficiently and safely from households, businesses and institutions to wastewater treatment plants.
During the visit, the students were introduced to the entire wastewater treatment cycle, from mechanical treatment to biological processes to chemical water treatment. They had the opportunity to see with their own eyes how the various equipment and technologies used at the treatment plant work. Guides at the plant were technical staff, who shared their knowledge and experience, answering numerous questions from the students.
Thanks to the visit, the students were able to better understand how complex and important the wastewater treatment process is, and what role logistics play in managing such a plant. The visit was also an opportunity to discuss the challenges faced by the water and wastewater industry, such as sustainability and environmental protection.
The visit to the Klimzowiec Wastewater Treatment Plant certainly enriched the students with new practical skills and knowledge that they will be able to use in their future careers.
It is also worth noting that the weather conditions on the day of the visit were very challenging. Snow covered everything in a thick layer, and the temperatures were extremely low. Despite the difficult conditions, the students showed great determination and bravely survived the visit, gaining valuable experience.
