Study trips abroad
with the ERASMUS+ Programme

Eligibility criteria

  • The qualification system for mobility is a two-stage system:
    • faculty’s qualification - conducted by the Faculty’s Qualification Committee
    • central qualification - during which the applications of students who have been qualified by the Faculties are evaluated by the International Mobility Office

Eligibility conditions for studying abroad

  • The programme is only open to active full-time and part-time students (with no academic delays or conditional entries).
  • Students on leave cannot qualify.
  • The grade point average of previous studies is taken into account (this information can be obtained from the Student Services Office - BOS).
  • Good knowledge of a foreign language, recognised as the working language in the foreign centre, is essential (a minimum language level of B2 is recommended).
  • Knowledge of the target country’s language is an advantage.
  • Commitments to student, academic and internationalization-oriented activities of the Faculty / University are worth presenting.
  • A student may participate in Erasmus+ mobility for a maximum of 12 months at each degree level, regardless of the form of mobility (study and placement periods are added up).
  • Only students after the 2nd semester of their first degree programme / five-year master's degree programme may leave for their exchange.

Application deadlines

  • Candidates for both winter and summer term trips are selected for qualification in the spring of the previous academic year. Whether you want to go in October or as late as March, be sure to attend the meeting in March preceding the new academic year.
  • The spring intake (in March) is for trips for one semester (winter or summer) as well as for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • The autumn intake (in October) is for departures in the summer term only.
  • Depending on students' interest and the scholarship budget of the Erasmus+ Programme at the disposal of the Silesian University of Technology, it may be possible to:
    • extend the stay from the winter semester to the whole academic year;
    • organize supplementary recruitment.

Funding principles

  • The financing of the Erasmus+ Programme grant is subject to the period of the study trip:
    • departure for 1 semester - maximum 5 months;
    • annual mobility - maximum 10 months.
  • Scholarship rates depend on the destination country according to the group assigned to it, and vary between EUR 600 - 670 per month.
  • Students and graduates who qualify for the trip and meet the criteria as students or graduates with fewer opportunities will receive an additional EUR 250 per month in financial support, regardless of the type of mobility.

  • Fill in the application form (attachment no. 1 at the bottom of the page) and bring it with you to the recruitment meeting or send a scan by e-mail to the Coordinator – Jacek Pradela, MA, jacek.pradela@polsl.pl

    • The activity declared in the APPLICATION for the benefit of the Faculty / University should be documented.
  • Wait for the results of the Recruitment Committee and the announcement of the qualified list and the reserve list.

How to choose a university?

And once you are informed of your qualification....

  • In order to correctly complete all the formalities related to your ERASMUS+ Programme departure, familiarise yourself with the departure rules on the website of the International Exchange Section and the foreign university where you want to study (deadline, documents, online application, others).
  • Keep in touch with the person from the International Mobility Office, who is in charge of departures from your Faculty.
  • In many cases, applying to a university is done using the online application available on the partner university's website. Therefore, visit the website of the university of your choice and read the information on it and download and fill in the application documents.
  • In case the university does not have its own forms, you should fill in the documents provided on the website of the International Mobility Office: https://www.polsl.pl/rn3-1-dwz-swm/aplikowanie-student/
  • The necessary documents should be submitted to Sekcja Wymiany Międzynarodowej (the International Mobility Office), Akademicka 2A (2A Academic Street), room 48, Wydział Górnictwa, Inżynierii Bezpieczeństwa i Automatyki Przemysłowej (Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation building), approximately two weeks before the so-called deadline (the date set by the foreign university).
  • The International Mobility Office employee responsible for your Faculty sends your nomination and then the documents to the partner university.
  • Students usually receive confirmation of acceptance within 4-6 weeks of sending the documents, so only when the other party has signed the documents can you be sure that you have been accepted.
  • The next step is to prepare for your departure.
  • After receiving information from the International Exchange Section, the student prepares the following documents:
    • Student Application Form - the student's application form.
    • Learning Agreement - LA, which is the study programme planned to be followed abroad.
      • The LA must provide the expected learning outcomes and ECTS credits.
      • The LA should include 30 points. ECTS credits from the courses in the semester.
      • If the indicated number of ECTS credits cannot be fulfilled, the lower threshold should be 24 pts. ECTS.
      • The LA study programme should not only include the diploma seminar.
    • Transcript of Records - an extract from the index.
  • It is worth visiting the website of the Department of International Cooperation - International Exchange Section (https://www.polsl.pl/rn3-1-dwz-swm/), where you will find continuously updated information, including downloadable departure documents.
