Student Internships



Student internships are an integral part of the educational process. The specific objectives for which internships are carried out can be formulated as follows:

  • Verification, development and practical application of skills and knowledge acquired during studies,
  • The student acquires knowledge of a given institution or organization (its departments, products or services offered, working methods and styles)
  • Acquiring new skills and qualifications, such as time management, teamwork, presentation of own projects, operating computer programs, etc,
  • Verification of individual predispositions of the student, thanks to which he/she can make a more conscious choice of career in the future,
    creating the
  • Opportunity to receive a permanent job offer from a given employer after graduation,
    acquainting the student with the
  • Recruitment and selection procedures used by various employers.

Manufacturing interships


REQUREMENTS AND DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE MANUFACTURING INTERNSHIP

  • The student collects a set of documents related to the internship from the Dean’s Office.
  • In the case of a student training placement based on a referral from the university, the student receives in the documents the “Agreement on the organization of student work placement based on a referral from the university”, in the case when the placement is to take place based on an employment contract – the “Agreement on the organization of student work placement based on an employment contract”.
  • The student submits for the approval of the Traineeship Supervisor or a person an “Application for permission to conduct professional practice” in a company chosen by the student. The application should include a framework programme of the placement and confirmation of the student’s insurance cover during the period of the placement (confirmation is entered by an employee of the Dean’s Office). If a group of students will serve the in-service training at a selected company, they prepare a joint application.
  • The framework programme of the practical placement is established by the student in agreement with the Head of the company or his/her Representative for the placement. The framework programme of the placement should be in accordance with the content of the student’s field of study and possible to implement in the company chosen by the student.
  • After the approval of the above mentioned application, the student (group of students) receives a “Training referral” signed by the Training Supervisor.
    If the internship takes place outside the student’s place of permanent residence or in Gliwice, the student signs a “Statement” on resignation from reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs and an application to the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs for allowing the internship to take place outside the place of permanent residence.
  • After obtaining the signature of the Faculty Internship Supervisor on the agreement, the Supervisor transfers two copies thereof to the student.
  • After the agreement is signed by the manager of the workplace or the Internship Supervisor, one copy remains at the workplace and the other is delivered to the Supervisor before the beginning of the internship.
  • The deadline for submission of documents for the internship is June 15.
  • After the completion of the Internship, the student is obliged to obtain a certificate from the manager of the workplace or the Internship Supervisor and submit it to the Supervisor in order to receive a credit for the Internship.
  • The credit for the internship is obtained by the Internship Supervisor on the basis of the certificate.

Graduate Internships


Dates of the diploma intership for full-time Master’s students are agreed each time with the internship supervisor.

Diploma students are asked to fill out the document “praktyka_dyplomowa.doc” (internship_diploma.doc) after completing the internship and submit the printout to the internship supervisor in order to obtain a credit.

It is possible to pass the diploma practice based on an employment contract, a copy of which should be submitted to the practice supervisor. The work performed should be related to the subject of the diploma thesis. In case of crediting the internship on the basis of the work performed, please contact the internship supervisor in advance.
