Research and teaching laboratories

The Department of Engineering and Biomedical Materials of the Silesian University of Technology uses a modern laboratory base with many unique research and technological devices, with strongly developed foreign cooperation with numerous centers in Europe and on all other continents. In 2007, the Department obtained the Quality Management System Registration Certificate in accordance with the principles of ISO 9001, in the field of scientific research and didactic activity in the field of materials engineering and surface engineering. Using this system, the Laboratories have developed an efficient and effective research management system, which is the result of many years of experience related to the use of specialized equipment, as well as the implementation of large and small scientific and research projects. Particular attention was paid to cooperation with industrial units, which often require immediate research to solve the currently emerging scientific and research problem. As part of the research management system, it is possible to start the order within a few hours of determining its scope and costs, which is an exception in this thematic area unheard of in our country.
