Graduate
qualifications
Graduates have thorough knowledge and skills in basic disciplines of
technical sciences, materials science, modern manufacturing
technologies, processing and recycling of engineering materials, as
well as methods of studying and shaping their structure, and examining
mechanical and physicochemical properties. They know how to select and
use materials, predict and increase the durability of products, taking
into account computer-aided materials engineering, and refine materials
through the use of modern volume and surface processing technologies.
Graduates of the Materials Engineering course are prepared to undertake
versatile engineering, business and scientific/research activities
directly in the production, processing and improvement of various types
of metal, ceramic, polymer and composite materials. They find
employment in production departments of large plants, quality assurance
departments, research and development departments, design offices as
well as in small and medium-sized manufacturing companies, research and
technical consulting enterprises, as well as in companies dealing with
the transfer of materials and technologies.
Materials Engineering, second-cycle full-time studies
Course description
- second-cycle full-time course
- profile: general academic
- recruitment date: winter recruitment
- course duration: 1.5 years / 3 semesters
- title conferred: Master of Engineering
- specialties:
- modern materials and technologies
- materials and technologies in the automotive industry
- materials and technologies in aviation
Graduate profile
Graduates of the second-cycle course in Materials Engineering have
knowledge and skills in the selection and design of engineering
materials for applications in industrial practice; technology of their
production; material processing; methods of shaping and examining the
properties and structure of engineering materials. Graduates are
prepared to undertake engineering activities, directly in the
production, processing, improvement and quality control of materials,
as well as activities that support material and technological design in
the industry and business units. They also have basic skills in
teamwork and team management, crisis management and interpersonal
communication. They know how to skilfully use specialist computer
software and take advantage of technical and business consultancy in
the selection of engineering materials. The acquired knowledge
predisposes them to work in production departments of large plants, in
quality assurance departments, research and development teams, and
design offices. They are prepared to work in large, medium and small
manufacturing, service and commercial companies, as well as in
technical consulting companies dealing with the transfer of materials
and technologies. A graduate of the materials engineering course will
be a specialist in undertaking engineering, economic and research and
development activities in a number of industries: automotive, power
engineering, aviation, metallurgy; in the production, processing,
selection, improvement and quality control of mainly metallic, but also
ceramic, polymer and composite materials.
