Materials in Means of Transport

  • You will be familiar with the properties of modern materials used in automotive, aerospace and railroad applications.
  • You will learn how to select the right materials for various structures, taking into account their strength and durability.
  • You will gain knowledge of composites, metal alloys and plastics used in transportation equipment.
  • You will learn methods for testing and analyzing materials for their resistance to loads and operating conditions.

Welding and Heat Treatment

  • You will be prepared to work with modern welding technologies and heat treatment processes.
  • You will learn methods of welding, brazing and welding of various structural materials.
  • You will gain practical skills in quality control of welded joints and heat treatment of metals.
  • You will learn the safety rules and standards of the welding and metalworking industry.

Material Technologies

  • You will know how to design and implement innovative materials for industrial applications.
  • You will learn to study the mechanical, physical and chemical properties of various raw materials.
  • You will gain the ability to select appropriate materials for modern manufacturing technologies.
  • You will learn advanced methods of processing and modifying materials to improve their performance properties.

During your studies:

Those who are accepted to study materials engineering and will begin their studies in October 2025 will join the project entitled Silesian University of Technology as a Center of Innovative Education for a Sustainable Economy (CIK ZG).

As part of this project, students will be able to benefit from various forms of development and support, including:

  • classes developing digital competencies and education in green technologies and sustainable development planned in the modernized study plan,
  • support classes with a psychologist/pedagogue/career counselor,
  • seminars with employers who are graduates of the major and/or operate in the field of materials engineering,
  • workshops in an industry-specific foreign language,
  • training courses and workshops certified in the field of study,
  • study tours domestically and abroad to companies related to the field of study,
  • training trips (School of Leaders) developing specific competencies,
  • interdisciplinary PBL (Project Based Learning, i.e., teaching by project) projects. Project Based Learning, i.e., teaching through project implementation),
  • paid internships in manufacturing companies.
