The mid-term evaluation is used to evaluate the implementation of the individual research plan (IRP) in the middle of the education period

Evaluation is carried out by three-member committees

The committee consists of one person employed outside the Silesian University of Technology and two from the Silesian University of Technology

All members of the committee represent the discipline in which the doctoral dissertation is being prepared

The supervisor and the assistant supervisor cannot be members of the Committee

Committee meetings are conducted online

The doctoral student and the thesis supervisor are invited to the meeting with the committee. In the case of project “implementation doctorate”, the supervisor from the company side is also invited

The Commission assesses on the basis of:

1. individual research plan (IRP) of the doctoral student

2. written self-report of the mid-term evaluation, in which the doctoral student presents a report on the implementation of the individual research plan (prepared according to the template)

Supervisor’s opinion (and the opinion of a supervisor from the company side)

3. 10-minute oral presentation of scientific achievements related to the implementation of the doctoral thesis, presented by the doctoral student

4. discussion with the doctoral student about his research, described in the above documents and achievements, as well as about research plans set out in IPB.

TIMETABLE

1. Submitting the report – July, 11 hard copy the Doctoral School main office and scan copy with presentation to sd-ocena@polsl.pl

2. Meeting with commission – between 1 -15 of October.

the Committee will propose a date for the meeting

In the case of a negative assessment, the doctoral student may apply to the Director of the Doctoral School for re-evaluation within 7 days
