Prof. Gabriel Węcel passed away
Prof. Węcel was born in 1972 in Lazy. He graduated with a master's degree from the Department of Mechanical Power Engineering in 1997, and from then until his untimely death he was associated with the Institute (Department) of Thermal Technology. He received his doctorate and habilitation in 2003 and 2016 at the Department of Energy and Environmental Engineering. In his scientific work, he was engaged in computer simulations of energy processes, thermal radiation and numerical methods.
He was an active participant in scientific international exchanges. He spent a total of 4 years on foreign internships in Germany (Universities of Clausthal and Erlangen) and the Netherlands (Ijmuiden). He has participated in international research projects funded by the European Union, as well as in many national projects. He authored 26 frequently cited publications in international journals. He was a good and demanding academic teacher. He taught courses for industry employees. He was an avid athlete, practicing cycling, swimming, skiing, cross-country skiing and shooting. He orphaned four children and left a grief-stricken wife. He will remain in our memory as a hard-working, capable colleague and well-liked by colleagues and students.
To the family and closest friends of the deceased, our condolences and sorrow are expressed by the management and staff of the Department of Thermal Technology.

Funeral services will be held on 17 December 2022 at 2:30 pm at the Church of Christ the King at 6 Wiejska Street in Czyżowice.
