We are pleased to announce that MSc Eng. Daniel Szymura, a graduate of the master’s programme carried out in our Department, has become a laureate of the national edition of the SITPChem Competition for the best diploma thesis in the master’s thesis category (https://sitpchem.org.pl/2025/10/konkurs-sitpchem-na-najlepsza-prace-dyplomowa-rozstrzygniety/).

His thesis, entitled “Investigation on obtaining colorful oxide coatings by plasma electrolytic oxidation on magnesium alloys”, supervised by Dr Eng. Maciej Sowa, was awarded 1st place by the Jury of the competition organised by the Association of Engineers and Technicians of the Chemical Industry (SITPChem).

This is a remarkable achievement, especially given the high level of submissions from many universities across the country. The topic of Daniel’s work also constituted an important contribution to the project funded by the National Centre for Research and Development (LIDER/30/0116/L-11/19/NCBR/2020; https://www.polsl.pl/rch1/projekty/lider_30/). On behalf of the laureate, we had the pleasure of receiving the diploma and acknowledgements from the Board of the SITPChem Gliwice Branch during the official ceremony held as part of the annual Christmas and New Year Meeting at the NOT Technical House (https://gliwice.sitpchem.org.pl/spotkanie-swiateczno-noworoczne-2/).
