Success of the SUT in the SITPChem competition - Our Graduates with distinction!
On August 17, 2023, the results of the SITPChem Competition for the best diploma thesis in the field of chemistry for the years 2020-2022 were announced.
This competition has a long tradition and is held in two stages:
1) Regional
2) Nationwide
The competition organized by the Association of Engineers and Technicians of the Chemical Industry (Polish abbrev. SITPChem) this year included works that were defended in the academic years 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022, which resulted in the accumulation of as many as 27 entries! Although the main prize in the competition went to a graduate of the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Poznań University of Technology (defended in 2022), the closing of the podium, distinctions and a special award went to the graduates of the Employees of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Silesian University of Technology (5 works!).
We are pleased to announce that two diploma theses submitted in the academic year 2020/2021, supervised by dr inż. Maciej Sowa were awarded ex aequo in this Competition. These were works by:
1) mgr inż. Aleksander Olesiński Modification of aluminum surfaces in order to improve the corrosion resistance of the substrate by means of plasma electrolytic treatment
2) mgr inż. Bartosz Szumski Study of the influence of aluminum surface treatment parameters on the quality of oxide layers obtained during plasma electrolytic oxidation
It is worth noting that Mr. Olesiński, is currently employed at the Department as an investigator in a project financed by the National Center for Research and Development (under the LIDER program; project number: LIDER/30/0116/L-11/19/NCBR/2020; https://www.polsl.pl/rch1/projekty/lider_30/) on a related subject
