IP_CMC develops infrastructure and medical data analysis methods to support scientific research, including non-commercial clinical trials. The Centre brings together medical, computing and analytical expertise to enable the use of clinical, imaging and molecular data in digital medicine.
Aim and project scope
The work covers data integration, secure data sharing, and the development of mathematical models and artificial intelligence algorithms. The Silesian University of Technology contributes to CARLOTA, a system for detecting potential cancerous lesions in low-dose computed tomography scans, and the Virtual Pathologist, which supports automated tissue image analysis and segmentation.
Expected results
Expected outcomes include infrastructure for medical data research, methods for image analysis and biomarker identification, and tools supporting research into diagnostics and personalised medicine.
The project is funded by the Medical Research Agency and runs from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2028. The consortium is led by the Medical University of Gdańsk, with the University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk, the Silesian University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk as partners.
