Our Faculty cooperates with Bayer
The Silesian University of Technology has established cooperation with Bayer company and its newly opened Digital Hub. This cooperation is coordinated by the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics, and Computer Science. The partnership will cover two areas: the student internship program in the field of information technology called "Program your career" and joint research and development projects carried out with the university.
Digital Hub develops innovative digital solutions supporting health protection and agriculture - as Bayer operates in both of these key areas for every human being. Our work brings a real change for the world - in line with the vision of "Health for All, Hunger for None". We are an excellent place for young people fascinated by technology, who expect their work to be meaningful to others, and at the same time want to connect with a global company offering great development opportunities. - says Bogusław Tobiasz, director of the Bayer Digital Hub.
Bayer is already developing life science innovations in collaboration with world-leading technical universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Silesian University of Technology is now joining this group. Bayer’s Digital Hub offers students the opportunity to gain experience and work in international teams in areas such as data science, software engineering, IT security engineering, full stack engineering, data engineering.
We are proud to be able to cooperate with a company such as Bayer, whose brand is known all over the world. We hope that our cooperation will result in interesting, innovative solutions which, thanks to the global nature of the company, will obtain the same status. This will allow us to show the world how strong our intellectual potential is in the country. Our students having internships in Bayer's Digital Hub will be ambassadors of this potential. Dariusz Mrozek, Deputy Dean for Cooperation and Development at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, and Head of the Department of Applied Informatics.
The contract with the Silesian University of Technology was signed on December 15, 2021. The program will start in 2022: the first group of students will begin their internship in March, the next - in October. Several dozen interns will take part in the program. Bayer prepared a 5-month professional and training module for the students. Additionally, Bayer's Digital Hub plans to implement joint research projects in the area of digital solutions for agriculture. Their start is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022.
