Start - MGR AiR – Automatic Control and Robotics
Automatic Control and Robotics, Master degree, MSc level (regular)
Characteristics of the major
Automation and Robotics graduates are one of the most sought-after employees in the labor market. As part of the course, students gain thorough knowledge in the field of continuous and discrete process control, computer and microprocessor systems, automation of technological processes and autonomous devices, as well as robotics and mobile devices. They are very well prepared theoretically and practically to take up professional work, depending on their specialization, as designers and users of modern automation systems, designers of robot control systems, mobile devices, automation in biotechnology and energy systems, building automation, computer systems, monitoring, measuring and in the realities of industry 4.0 requirements. They can work in plants and companies that design, manufacture and use automation equipment, computer centers, as well as in research and development centers dealing with the design and implementation of new, automated manufacturing, transport and technological processes.
Student Profile
The field of study is intended for people interested in both hardware issues (measurement sensors, microprocessor systems, controllers, and industrial networks), process automation, and biotechnology, as well as broadly understood programming (object-oriented programming, programming microprocessors, controllers, robots, databases, expert systems, and artificial intelligence). The possibility of choosing a specialization and many elective subjects allows you to choose the path of education in line with the candidate's interests.
Prerequisites

Topics
During their studies, students acquire knowledge in the following areas:
- Distributed measurement and diagnostic systems
- Process identification and control
- Regulators and control systems
- Building automation
- Unmanned autonomous objects
- Industrial controllers and industrial networks
- SCADA control and supervision systems
- Image processing
- Expert systems and artificial intelligence systems
- Advanced data analysis
Specializations
Students can extend their knowledge in selected areas by selecting subjects and thematic modules within the following specializations:
- Automation (Aut)
- Robotics (Rob)
- Measurement and Information Systems (SPiI)
- Control in Process Engineering and Biotechnology (SwIPiB)
In semesters 1 and 2, students take a specialization subject and a specialization module independently. In addition, in the second semester, there is a possibility of education Project Based Learning (PBL) method, which allows you to study according to an individual study program and is associated with the implementation of projects in cooperation with students of other fields. In the third semester, students take 3 specialty subjects. This enables individual planning of the education path within the field of Automatic Control and Robotics, and the final determination of the specialization is based on the number of ECTS points obtained in the subjects assigned to each specialization.
Graduate profile
Automation and Robotics graduates have extensive knowledge in the field of design, programming and operation of control systems in various areas of human activity. Depending on the specialization, they will be able to find employment in plants, companies, and research and development centers designing, producing, and using automation equipment as:
- Designer and programmer of control systems
- Integrator of automation systems
- Constructor and programmer of measurement and diagnostic systems
- Designer of embedded systems and autonomous unmanned objects
- Programmer of industrial controllers and SCADA systems
- Constructor and programmer of IoT devices
- A specialist in the field of robotization and automation of production processes
e.t.c.
Graduates with scientific and research interests, after obtaining a master's degree, may apply for admission to the four-year third-cycle (doctoral) studies conducted by the Faculty of AEiI in the discipline of automation, electrical engineering and electronics.
