On 12th of May 2026, Wojciech Jamrozik, PhD Eng., Assistant Professor at the Department of Fundamentals of Machinery Design at the Silesian University of Technology, delivered a presentation during the conference “Contemporary trends changing the face of automation and robotisation in industry”, held as part of Warsaw Industry Automatica 2026.

His presentation, entitled “From sensor to decision. Artificial intelligence on the road to autonomous production”, was the first expert lecture following the official opening of the conference. In his talk, Dr Jamrozik discussed the role of modern digital technologies in the transformation of manufacturing enterprises in line with the principles of Industry 4.0. Particular emphasis was placed on the flow of information in an integrated industrial environment — from data acquisition through sensors and measurement systems, to data analysis and the use of results in operational decision-making.

The presentation showed that the development of automation and robotisation requires a comprehensive approach to designing intelligent, connected and flexible production systems. The talk addressed the importance of integrating machines, vision systems, measurement infrastructure, technical diagnostics and analytical tools in the creation of modern industrial environments.

Selected examples of research conducted at the Silesian University of Technology were used to present key development directions of Industry 4.0 technologies, including intelligent monitoring of industrial infrastructure, anomaly detection, the use of autonomous systems and drones in diagnostics, prediction of energy consumption in devices, and edge-based data processing. Artificial intelligence was presented as one of the tools supporting industrial digital transformation.

The participation of a representative of the Silesian University of Technology in the conference provided an opportunity to present the University’s research competences in process automation, robotisation, technical diagnostics and industrial digital transformation. The subject of the presentation is directly aligned with the activities of the Priority Research Area POB5 “Process Automation and Industry 4.0”.
