The Silesian University of Technology became a member of the Copernicus Academy network
The program, coordinated and managed by the European Commission, is implemented in cooperation with the Member States, the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), the European Center for Medium-Range Forecasting (ECMWF), EU agencies and the Mercator Océan research institute.
The program provides information services based on satellite data (Sentinel) and in situ data from different stations that provide data obtained by numerous sensors on land, at sea or in the air. On the basis of satellite images, maps are created, features and anomalies are determined and statistical information can be obtained.
