Biennale Gliwice 2025 with the participation of Silesian University of Technology
There has never been such an event in Gliwice. On June 27th, Biennale Gliwice 2025 begins – an event inspired by renowned artistic and cultural events around the world, during which Gliwice streets, parks and buildings will turn into an open art gallery for a few days.
The program will include a variety of events – from concerts and performances to interactive installations, workshops, and street- art.
The Silesian University of Technology which will be actively engaged in Biennale Gliwice, will take part in this extraordinary cultural event, bringing educational, technological, and social value to the project.
Students and employees of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering headed by Dr Eng. Rafał Setlak are involved in the preparation of the exhibition of Jan Śliwka sculptures. Thanks to their work, they brought back to action kinetic sculptures of the deceased artist, on which his father, Dr Eng. Janusz Tokarski worked. Thanks to the efforts of the students, still artworks received new life and new opportunities. This was due to the launch of engines, the repair of mechanisms and wiring of these extraordinary works of art.
The reconstructed sculptures will be presented in the Festival Office (36, Zwycięstwa Street) from June 28th to July 6th from 12.00-22.00. It will be possible to see kinetic art will be free of charge.
The artistic contribution of the students will also be shown during other events as part of Biennale Gliwice. Representatives of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology were involved in their preparation.
In the X Gallery building at 10, M. Strzody Street, it will be possible to see the jubilee exhibition of the 50th anniversary of the creative work of Adam Styrylski, MA, while in the building of the Central City Library at 17, Kościuszki Street there will be an opportunity to see an open-air exhibition of student works , the subject of which is the architecture of Gliwice.
As part of the festival, on Monday 30th of June at 18.00 in the hall 014 in the building at 10, Strzody Street, a lecture on the historical development of the city of Gliwice by Dr Eng. Arch Ryszard Nakonieczny is also planned.
