500 primary school pupils in a lecture on cybersecurity
Almost 500 pupils of primary schools from Gliwice took part in a lecture on cyber security, which took place at the Education and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology. The meeting was planned as part of the project Gliwice Days of Young Scientists.
- For the eleventh time we are organizing the Gliwice Days of Young Scientists in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology. The aim of this event is to interest primary school pupils and preschoolers with science subjects. As part of the project, lectures, competitions, and shows are held. In this way, we want to show that devil is not as terrible as they paint it and that exact subjects can be interesting. Together with scientists, we want to provide young people with the necessary knowledge in an accessible way – said Agata Cira, director of the School and Educational Institutions Complex No. 1 in Gliwice, co-organizer of the event.
During the Thursday meeting, a lecture on cybersecurity was prepared by Dr Eng. Adrian Kapczyński from the Faculty of applied Mathematics.
“The lecture concerned the foundations of cybersecurity, the absolute basics that are necessary and that a young person should know,” said the scientist.
The lecture was attended by, among others, pupils of Primary School No.13 in Gliwice.
“Initiatives such as the Gliwice Days of Young Scientists are an opportunity for pupils to learn more, especially since the topic of today’s lecture is extremely important. It is also an opportunity to get to know the university. For many of them, this is the first such visit – said Justyna Stępniak from Primary School no. 13 in Gliwice.
The final of the Gliwice Days of Young Scientists will take place at the Silesian University of Technology on February 11th, 2025.
