On November 6th, participants of the international Young Eco Heroes project took part in a unique online meeting, which took place at the Student Creativity Centre of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.
In the modern cinema hall, pupils of Primary School No. 4 in Mikołów and their peers from Germany and Greece presented their presentations about their countries and the design topics they are working on this year. The Polish team implements the project “From Waste to Art,” showing how waste can gain a second life thanks to a creative approach and environmental awareness.
Partly online, pupils took part in the “Autumn Chemistry” workshop at the Faculty of Chemistry, conducted by Angelika Burszczanin, and then learned the secrets of scientists’ work during a visit to the University’s laboratories. Dr Eng. Anna Wolny talked about modern research and green technologies developed at the Faculty.
The Young Eco Heroes project is an initiative of the European consortium EURECA-PRO – European University on responsible consumption and Production. Its aim is to spread knowledge about sustainable development, responsible consumption, and production, and to inspire young people to act actively for the environment. Participants work in international teams using Project-Based Learning (PBL), developing skills of collaboration, creativity, problem-solving and public speaking.
