The meeting was opened, and the participants were welcomed by Dr Hab. Eng. Grzegorz Sierpiński, Prof. SUT, Dean of the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology and chairman of the organizing committee of the conference.
The aim of the conference was to present the latest achievements in the field of broadly understood transport issues and to assess the conditions and prospects of the development of the national transport system on various scales, from global through Europe, country, region, and city. Contemporary problems in the development of transport systems are concentrated around several key areas, which were reflected in the presented research results.
A large number of participants (representing 40 institutions) confirm that the conference is a platform for fruitful cooperation and exchange of experiences related to transport issues between research centres, domestic and foreign.
