XXI Polish Control Conference

Integration of the environment of automation and roboticists, people related to data processing and analysis, mathematical modelling, artificial intelligence methods as well as the presentation of the latest achievements and the exchange of experience in the field of research and application work - these are the main goals of the "XXI Polish Control Conference" - PCC2023, which took place at the Silesian University of Technology.  The event was addressed to all employees, PhD students and students of the Silesian University of Technology.

The "Polish Control Conference" is a cyclical event organized under the substantive supervision of the Automation and Robotics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, every 3 years since 1958. This year it takes place at the Silesian University of Technology. – People connected with the Committee for Automation and Robotics of the Polish Academy of Sciences meet at the conference, professors who play the most important role in this area in the country are present. The meeting is also a great opportunity for young researchers to get acquainted with these people, face their opinion for the first time, listen to papers and take an active part in the discussion - said prof. Marek Pawełczyk, Vice-Rector for Science and Development.

Among the speakers of the "Polish Control Conference" there were papers by people with very high citation rates, the so-called HighlyCited Researchers - prof. Hamida Reza Karimi from Politecnico di Milano in Italy and prof. Witold Pedrycz from the University of Alberta in Canada.

The organization of a conference in the field of automation at the Silesian University of Technology was an opportunity to present the university's potential in this field.  – First of all, we show ourselves as a centre that has a lot to say on this subject. It is known that we are identified by six Priority Research Areas, and two of them are directly related to the subject of this meeting, i.e. Artificial Intelligence and Data Processing as well as Process Automation and Industry 4.0. – said the Vice-Rector.

The accompanying event of PCC2023 was the Open Science Forum organized as part of EURECA-PRO  which was held online. This is an opportunity to present the results of our research to a wider audience. - Members of the EURECA-PRO community could watch six plenary sessions broadcast live during the 21st "Polish Control Conference" via the YouTube channel - said dr hab. Eng. Szymon Ogonowski, prof. SUT.  – Since the subject of this conference was related to automation and Industry 4.0, the papers presented at it could be interesting for all partners who cooperate within Lighthouse Missions 5 Process automation and Industry 4.0. It is one of the EURECA-PRO Priority Research Areas, he added.

XXI Polish Control Conference will last until June 29, at the Educational and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology. On the last day of the event, the participants visited the University's industrial partners. It was an opportunity for scientists to verify and learn how the solutions they are working on are implemented in practice.
