XIII competition for the financing of project-oriented education - PBL

XIII competition for the financing project-oriented education - PBL under the Excellence Initiative - Research University program has been announced.

The call for applications in the XIII competition for the implementation of project-oriented education in the form of the PBL project (Project-Based Learning) in the winter semester of the academic year 2025/2026 has started.

The competition is organized as part of the Excellence Initiative – Research University program.

Applying for projects, , their financing and settlement be carried out according to the rules set out in the Rules of financing project-oriented education - PBL as part of the Excellence Initiative – Research University Program, , contained in the Ordinance No. 251/2024 of Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 18 December 2024.

Applications may be submitted only by employees who have submitted reports on the XI and earlier editions.

According to the assumptions of the program, PBL projects should be interdisciplinary, and each project group should include students of the Silesian University of Technology representing at least two fields of study, diploma paths or specialties. Additionally, pupils of academic secondary comprehensive schools, for which the leading authority is the Silesian University of Technology, as well as pupils of schools that have concluded a cooperation agreement with the Silesian University of Technology, may be involved in the implementation of the project. A student may pursue only one PBL project in a given semester.

Applications for funding for project-oriented education – PBL, drawn up on the basis of Annex 1 of this regulation, should be sent by e-mail to the address of a dedicated e-mail box – COS-PBL.IDUB@polsl.pl by 26.05.2025.

The projects will be implemented the winter semester of the academic year 2025/2026.

Projects with the involvement of foreign universities, implemented on the basis of a bilateral agreement, will be particularly promoted. The International Relations Office will provide support to interested applicants in searching for a foreign partner under the concluded agreements, in particular in connection with the participation of the Silesian University of Technology in the European University Initiative programme.

We would like to remind you that the budget of the project must be carefully planned, which is binding for the entire duration of the project. It is also necessary to verify on-going basis the students submitted to the project whether they are not participating in another PBL project in accordance with § 1 section 3 of the above-mentioned ordinance: Within the framework of the Excellence Initiative – Research University program, a student may participate in a given semester in one PBL project.

The annexes contain the principles of implementing PBL projects and the templates of documents specified in the Rector’s Ordinance No. 251/2024 of 18 December 2024.
