XI Droniada rich in events
This year, the eleventh edition of Droniada will last for seven days. The event will take place from 3rd to 9th June in the Silesian Park in Chorzów and at the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology in Katowice. As usual, there will be a lot of attractions for participants. For the third time the event will be co-organized by Silesian University of Technology.
Droniada means contests, competitions, workshops, shows and knowledge. For the second time, its important element will be the conference “Droniada Tech by Silesian University of Technology” under the slogan “Robotic mobility”, which will take place on June 3rd and 4th in the conference room at the Silesian Stadium.
By 2030, autonomous transport will become an important part of the global economy. At Droniada Tech by Silesian University of Technology, as part of Droniada GZM, we will talk about social, economic, and technical challenges of robotic road, rail, sea, and air mobility.
As always, we will keep our fingers crossed for students of the Silesian University of Technology from the High Flyers scientific club, who will take part in the Droniada Challenge, in which they have already won many times in various competitions. It is a technology competition, one of the most difficult in the world, combining computer science, mechatronics, and robotics with aviation.
Thirteen academic teams from all over Poland have already applied for this year’s competition. This year, they will take part in such competitions as System Demo, Mars Mines, Relay Race, Inspection and Fly to Rescue, and a prize pool of over PLN 35 thousand awaits the winners.
This year there will also be Droniada Junior, the partner of which is the Continuing Education Centre- a branch of the Silesian University of Technology in Rybnik. It is a nationwide competition for pupils of grades IV-VIII of primary schools and pupils of secondary schools, who will compete in two competitions.
- We will show that the drone is a flying robot, into which you can upload your own software program. Piloting a drone remotely is not only fun, but also learning algorithmic thinking and mission design. For those who prefer to make films, we give them a chance to design a vision of the transport of the future in the city 2050 – as we read on the Droniada website.
