Welcome to the International Doctoral Week

On behalf of the Doctoral School and the University Self-Government Council of the Doctoral Students of the Silesian University of Technology, we cordially invite you to participate in the InterDocWeek2026 International Doctoral Student Week, organized at our University on 11-15 May 2026, thanks to the support of the project "New International Horizons for Doctoral School - NIH4DS" of the NAWA STER program, implemented by our Joint Doctoral School.

This year, the focal point of the event offered to the academic community of the Silesian University of Technology and doctoral students of the Joint Doctoral School will be the European Doctoral Day (https://www.eurodocday.org/), which will be held on the 13th of May.

This a pan-European event, organised in cooperation with The European University Association, Council for Doctoral Education, League of European Research Universities and the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers, aims to highlight the role of PhD candidates and PhDs in the development of science, innovation and society, as well as to strengthen the European dimension of higher education.

Our University joined this initiative by signing the Declaration “Event Charter for Organizing Institutions.”

As part of the prepared InterDocWeek2026 program, a number of scientific, development and integration events have been planned, with the participation of many interesting Polish and foreign experts and panellists.

The planned scope of the program includes:

· plenary lectures on the development of scientific careers and competences of doctoral students,

· panel sessions devoted to the challenges of doctoral education and the role of transferable competences,

· practical workshops on publishing scientific articles and using artificial intelligence in research,

· presentations of PhD students carrying out projects in an international environment,

· inspirational sessions presenting the career paths of doctors,

· startup competition in the area of sustainable production and consumption,

· soft skills training,

· integration events and social initiatives.

The whole week-long event, with particular emphasis on the European Doctoral Day on 13 May, provides an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences, establish cooperation and promote the achievements of young scientists and scientific networking.

The detailed program of the InterDoc Week 2026 event, as well as the program of the European Doctoral Day itself, are sent in the annexes. Working language of the whole event is English.
