We know the winners of the competition “For the golden index of the Silesian University of Technology”

We know the winners of the eighth edition of the competition “For the golden index of the Silesian University of Technology.” The winners received the University Index or preferential points in the recruitment procedure.

The event is addressed to pupils of secondary schools and its aim is to develop interest of young people in knowledge from selected areas and fields, as well as to promote especially talented students. The competition consists of two stages, during which pupils solve problems and are assessed by a board consisting of academic teachers. The main prize for the First-degree winners are places at almost all fields of study at the Silesian University of Technology, and preferential points in recruitment proceedings for the second and third-degree winners.

– I am glad that we can host the most talented young people from all over Poland at the Silesian University of Technology. First of all, I would like to congratulate you on obtaining such high results in the competition. This year’s work was not easy, and the competition was fierce. The fact that you are among the winners means that you have demonstrated a very high level of knowledge in the field of science - said the professor Wojciech Szkliniarz, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education.

This year’s edition of the competition, like the previous one, was nationwide. In addition to the schools of the Silesian Voivodeship, the winners included students from Poznań, Andrychów, Rzeszów, Mielec, Oleśnica, Wieluń, Krosno, Nowy Targ and Nowy Sącz.

This contest is a very interesting initiative. You can try your hand, and at the same time win admission to the university and worry a little less about the results of the matriculation – says Franciszek Trzeciak from the First Secondary Comprehensive School in Krosno, who is a double winner of the competition “For the Golden Index of the Silesian University of Technology”.  In the past year Franciszek won the index for our university and this year he is the winner of the second degree in computer science and the third degree in physics. The winner wants to study automation and robotics.

The index was also won by Martyna Kupidłowska from I LO (Secondary Comprehensive School) in Gliwice. The contest was neither very difficult nor very easy. The time we had for solving the problems was adequate to the degree of difficulty, so I worked out perfectly with it. It was also an opportunity to exercise the mind a little,” said Martyna.

The competition "For the golden index of the Silesian University of Technology" consists of two stages and solving competition tasks. First degree winners are admitted to the first year of studies without qualifying procedure for the following majors: business analytics, mathematics, project management, and engineering majors, with the exception of architecture. The award for the winners of the 2nd and 3rd degree are additional points in the recruitment procedure.

Finally, in the competition “For the golden index of the Silesian University of Technology” , twenty two first-degree prizes, thirteen second-degree prizes and fourteen third-degree prizes were awarded.
