Visitors from Uzhhorod National University
On the 28th of March, this year a meeting of representatives of the Silesian University of Technology and Uzhhorod National University took place. The participants of the meeting were welcomed by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, who stressed the importance of international scientific cooperation.
At the meeting, the Silesian University of Technology was represented by: His Magnificence Rector Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, Prof. Joanna Polańska hosted from the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science and Dr Eng. Grzegorz Kłapyta, Head of the International Relations Office. From Uzhhorod National University participated: Rector Prof. Volodymyr Smolanka and Prof. Taras Olesyk, Fulbright Program Fellow at Oakland University.
During the meeting, the potential of both universities was presented, areas of activity, scientific achievements and cooperation so far were presented.
Later in the meeting there was a discussion on the possibilities of developing cooperation between universities, especially in the field of scientific research, academic exchange, and international projects. The main focus was on areas such as bioengineering, biotechnology, aerospace technologies, logistics and transport, defence technologies and industrial automation. Both sides expressed their desire to intensify cooperation in the future. The meeting ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which aims to strengthen cooperation between universities.
After the formal part, the guests were invited to visit the Silesian University of Technology Campus and the Biotechnology Centre. Next, the guests had the opportunity to visit EHTIC – European HealthTech Innovation Centre in Zabrze, where they met with the Director of EHTIC Dr Hab. Eng. Marcin Górski, Prof. of Silesian University of Technology– and the Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering Dr Hab. Eng. Marcin Basiaga, Prof. SUT.
The meeting of representatives of the Silesian University of Technology and Uzhhorod National University was an important step in building further, fruitful international cooperation, which aims to develop joint research and scientific projects and academic exchange in the future.
