We invite you to visit the Museum of Deposit Geology named after Cz. Poborski at the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation of the Silesian University of Technology and to the exhibition "Rocks and minerals of Upper Silesia - coal...". The events are organized as part of the Silesia Week, during the celebration of the European City of Science Katowice 2024.
VISITING A MUSEUM
In the Museum of Deposit Geology at the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation of the Silesian University of Technology, there are extraordinary treasures hidden deep in... rocks and minerals. This is where you can find precious metals such as gold, silver and copper, as well as shiny precious and decorative stones. These treasures also hide many secrets about the history of life on Earth and what has happened in Upper Silesia over the course of geological time... If you want to learn about the stone record of the prehistory of the Silesian Land and discover its treasures and secrets from millions of years ago, be sure to visit this Museum!
During your visit, you will learn how Upper Silesia has changed over geological time spanning almost 400 million years! You will learn what mineral resources, apart from coal, are found in Silesia. You will learn about rocks and minerals from all over the world, as well as extraterrestrial meteorites!
