Visit of the Rector of the Rwandan university INES Ruhengeri
On May 8th, 2023, Fr. Dr Jean Bosco Baribeshya, the Rector of INES Ruhengeri, a partner university of the Silesian University of Technology in Rwanda visited SUT. The host of this visit on the part of the Silesian University of Technology was the Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion dr hab. Eng. Tomasz Trawiński, prof. of Silesian University of Technology.
During the visit, the guest from Rwanda met with representatives of individual faculties with whom the Rwandan university would like to cooperate in the field of teaching, research and joint publications. INES Ruhengeri is a relatively young non-public university, open to all kinds of remote or stationary cooperation with institutions around the world.
Fr. Dr Jean Bosco Baribeshya held a meeting with a delegation from the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering composed of: dr hab. Eng. Damian Hadryś, prof. SUT - vice-dean for education, dr hab. Eng. Łukasz Konieczny, prof. SUT - Vice-Dean for Infrastructure and Organization, dr hab. Eng. Janusz Cwiek. prof. SUT - head of the Department of Railway Transport, dr hab. Eng. Jarosław Kozuba, prof. SUT. head of the Department of Air Transport and dr hab. Eng. Grzegorz Sierpiński, prof. SUT from the Department of Transport Systems, Traffic Engineering and Logistics. Our guest also met with the Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Development dr hab. Eng. Dariusz Mrozek, prof. SUT from the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science.
During the meeting, representatives of the faculties presented the scientific and didactic potential of their units and discussed the possibilities of cooperation.
Then our guest visited the Faculty of Civil Engineering, where he met representatives of the faculty. The visit was supervised by the Dean of the Faculty, prof. Joanna Bzówka, accompanied by Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Development, dr hab. Eng. Tomasz Krykowski, prof. of the Silesian University of Technology and Vice-Dean for Infrastructure and Organization dr Eng Tomasz Jaśniok. After a substantive discussion, there was a visit to the laboratory at the faculty, supervised by the head, dr hab. Eng. Radoslaw Jasinski, prof. of Silesian University of Technology
After an intensive visit to the campus in Gliwice, the guest went to Zabrze, to the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering and to the European HealthTech Innovation Centre (EHTIC) in Zabrze. The meeting was attended by Vice-Rector dr hab. Eng. Tomasz Trawiński, prof. SUT, the Dean of the Faculty prof. Zbigniew Paszenda, Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Development dr hab. Eng. Robert Michnik, prof. SUT, head of the Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence prof. Ewa Piętka, as well as the deputy director of EHTIC dr hab. Eng. Marcin Kaczmarek, prof. of Silesian University of Technology The guest from Rwanda was very impressed with the scientific, research and technological infrastructure located in the EHTIC laboratories. During the meeting, the potential possibilities of cooperation with a university in Rwanda were also discussed.
INES Ruhengeri University in Rwanda is our partner university, with which the Silesian University of Technology concluded a cooperation agreement in 2022. It is a dynamically developing research and teaching institution made up of people open to knowledge and development.
