Ukrainian scientists visit the Faculty of Electrical Engineering

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology hosts two scientists from the Lviv University of Technology. This is the result of the growing cooperation between these two universities. The plan is to implement joint research projects.

In November, the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, prof. dr hab. Eng. Arkadiusz Mężyk signed a cooperation agreement with representatives of the Lviv University of Technology. The result of joint activities will be the implementation of joint scientific and research projects, participation in conferences and study visits of scientists in both countries. We didn't have to wait long for the results of such cooperation, because in mid-December, two scientists from a Ukrainian university visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology. Visiting scientists are Prof. Yuriy Shapovalov and dr Eng. Dariya Bachyk, representing the Faculty of Radioelectronic Devices and Systems of the Lviv National University of Technology.

- It turned out that we have common scientific interests. We analyse and synthesize systems with time-varying parameters. We have developed various methods for analysing parametric systems, but we have one main topic in common and our concepts complement each other - said dr Eng. Anna Piwowar from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

- During the presentation at the open meeting of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the guests presented the results of their research and talked about other areas of research activity at their alma mater, mainly in the field of radioelectronics, thanks to which it will be possible to launch other joint projects - added dr Eng. Anna Piwowar.

Guests from Ukraine do not hide that this visit is a valuable experience for them.

- We want to build relationships with scientific partners such as Poland, which is a member of the European Union and thanks to this we can count on financial support for our research - said Prof. Yuriy Shapovalov.

- In addition to the analysis of parametric systems, it is also important for us to cooperate in the development of radio communication technologies. This is one of the topics that we need to develop on an ongoing basis in connection with the ongoing war in Ukraine, added Dariya Bachyk.

These areas of activity and development plans of the Lviv research institute were presented during the meeting with scientists in Gliwice.

The first effects of cooperation and possible results of joint research will be presented during the SPETO conference, which is organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and will take place in May 2024. Scientists from Ukraine have been invited to it and have already announced their participation in this event.
