Two years of Proment Project implementation

Between February 17th and 20th in Uzhorod, Ukraine, a meeting summarizing the two years of Proment Project – “Promoting professional education and students’ engagement through comprehensive mentoring and tutoring system at HEIS” took place.

The essence of the project is to create conditions for students to have a mentor-student or tutor-student relationship, where the mentor or tutor acts as a guide, advisor supporting the student in the development of substantive competences, as well as those related to personal development.

One of the tasks of the Silesian University of Technology, as well as other partners from the EU, is to share the experience of conducting individual mentoring programs, in many cases involving the Project Based Learning approach.

On behalf of the Silesian University of Technology, at the request of Vice-Rector Anna Chrobok, project manager at our University, the meeting was attended by Dr Eng. Adam Marek and Dr Marta Matyjaszek. Together with partners from universities in Ukraine and Georgia and with other partners and universities from the EU, they discussed the key stages of the project implementation, presented the results and effects of their work so far, as well as examples of best practices and successes.

Representatives of four Ukrainian and two Georgian universities, together with the students involved in the project, presented their greatest achievements – the opening of the Mentoring and Tutoring Centre and its activities so far.

The mentoring/tutoring system is designed to involve students in relevant social projects, as well as to promote cooperation and strengthen relations between relevant international higher education institutions.
