Trends. Technology. Tactics. Communication talks in the European City of Science Katowice
This was the motto of the XXXVI conference of the Association of PR and Promotion of Polish Universities “PRom.” Experts, practitioners, representatives of the government and government agencies discussed at the Silesian University of Technology and in the European City of Katowice about the internationalization of Polish universities, the promotion of the education and communication system.
“These were intensive 2 days filled with substantive workshops, panels and case studies that inspire us to act,” summed up Anna Kiryjow-Radzka, president of the Association of PR and Promotion of Polish Universities “PRom”, which organized the conference for the 36th time. “Our network of experts brings together people who work at Polish public and non-public universities, this is the only space in which we find mutual understanding, but also motivation and support to act sensibly and sensibly,” - she added.
This cyclical event is an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge about the promotion of the university, as well as to build relationships and establish cooperation.
– “Communication is crucial, so I am glad that such meetings take place” – said Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Gzik, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education during the opening session. – “The Ministry of Science and Higher Education returned to the map of ministries in our country only six months ago, we need to combine our energy to promote science, whose importance in the context of economic development or defence is crucial. It will depend on how the society views science”.
During the conference, the directions of internationalization of Polish universities and promotion of research and education abroad were widely discussed.
–“ We are working for the common good, Polish science deserves more” – said Dr Dawid Kostecki, director of the National Agency for Academic Exchange. – “There is a need to create a common vector for internationalization, hence the concept of creating a strategy based on extensive environmental consultations. We want this debate to be interdepartmental”.
Prof. Gzik, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education assured the conference participants that his ministry is open to recommendations and conclusions. The minister also stressed that the current government treats science as a priority and despite the tight budget increased spending on science to PLN 38 billion per year.
– “Education, or rather lifelong learning, is a requirement of progress, we must educate our graduates to be creators of this progress” – said Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Arkadiusz Mężyk, the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, who also emphasized the importance of the internationalization of the university. – “The key issue for development and recognition is joint scientific research carried out in international teams”.
The conference is also the result of the competition of the Association of PR and Promotion of Polish Universities “PRom,” which awards the best, creative and effective activities in the field of communication and promotional activities in the sector of Polish higher education.
The best of forty-five submitted works were selected by the jury of the competition, the list of winners is available on the website of the “PRom” Association.
