Training of staff for the nuclear power industry - signing a letter of intent
Training staff for the nuclear power sector is the main assumption of the letter of intent signed by the Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek, President of the Management Board of PKN Orlen Daniel Obajtek and six rectors of technical universities. On behalf of the Silesian University of Technology, the letter was signed by the Rector prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk.
During the press conference, the Minister of Education and Science pointed out the need for cooperation between science and business, which is essential for mutual development. He emphasized that low-emission energy is one of the key challenges for the economy in Poland.
– The world of science must follow business, it must support business, it must support entrepreneurship, it must support the economy. Zero-emission energy, nuclear energy is the energy sector of the near future, pointed out the Minister of Education and Science.
As emphasized by Minister Przemysław Czarnek, in-depth scientific research related to nuclear energy is needed in Poland: – We will create a separate program for the development of nuclear energy and research on nuclear energy so that Poland has not only engineers, but also world-leading scientists in the field of nuclear energy.
The main purpose of the signed letter is to develop an education program in the field of nuclear energy (NPP) and to organize and launch first and second degree studies with a general academic profile in this field from the academic year 2023/2024.
