To live in Bytom. Exhibition of works of students of the Faculty of Architecture
On the 23rd of May 2022, an exhibition of works of students of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology took place in Agora Bytom. The exhibition ‘M3 M4 MBYTOM. To live in Bytom’ is the result of the cooperation between the University and the city of Bytom. As part of the cooperation, students were asked to design a new, multi-family housing development in the parts of the city indicated by the Bytom authorities.
The exhibition was opened by Mariusz Wołosz, Mayor of Bytom, and attended by representatives of the Silesian University of Technology: Vice Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, prof. Katarzyna Ujma-Wąsowicz; prof. Grzegorz Nawrot, and Jan Kubec, PhD.
The students' projects presented at the exhibition were realised between 2020 and 2022 at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology as part of the course: architectural design - designing multi-family residential complexes and buildings. The lecturers of the course are: prof. Grzegorz Nawrot, Jan Kubec PhD. ‘The concepts were created under the supervision of 13 experienced architects, employees of the Department of Housing and Public Architecture Design. In total, over 300 projects were created, and the exhibition presents 50 of them, considered to be the most inspiring’ said prof. Grzegorz Nawrot. Apart from housing buildings, the students designed Eksploratorium na Rynku (transl. Exploratorium at the Market Square) in Bytom and Ośrodek Kultury Żydowskiej na Placu Grunwaldzkim (transl.the Jewish Culture Centre at Grunwaldzki Square).
The exhibition can be seen until the 20th of June 2022 in Agora Bytom - "Na Poziomie" Gallery, Bytom, pl. T. Kościuszki 1.
