They took part in the project: “Fit here, healthy there, let’s do it together”
Pupils of the Academic Secondary Comprehensive School of the Silesian University of Technology in Rybnik, together with colleagues from ELTE Trefort Ágoston Gyakorló Gimnázium in Budapest, have completed their participation in the project “Fit here, healthy there, let’s do it together”.
Pupils care about physical fitness, active lifestyle and care about the environment! These were the objectives of the project, which was implemented this year from February to June by the pupils of ALO (Academic Secondary Comprehensive School) in Rybnik as part of a grant from the International Visegrad Fund.
- We promoted a healthy lifestyle, became aware of our impact on the natural environment and motivated to introduce positive changes in everyday life - says Krzysztof Lazaj, director of ALO in Rybnik.
The project involved ten students from each partner institution and six teachers. Polish secondary school pupils stayed with Hungarian families for a week and then received new friends in their homes.
The pupils took part in workshops led by a dietician, tried their hand at climbing, did vigorous cardio fights on Janos Hill, spent an active afternoon in Aqua Park in Budapest, also trained at the gym.
The Silesian University of Technology also hosted the project participants who listened to the lecture of Dr Hab. Eng. Anna Timofiejczuk, Prof. SUT from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering on Industry 4.0 and Climate Change and implemented pro-ecological behaviours using 6R principles (rethink, refuse, reduce, reuse, reuse and recycle).

- They also visited the Rybnik power plant, where they got to know the behind-the-scenes secrets of the electricity production process. Pupils improved their knowledge of foreign languages, taking part in language games and games in English and French, listened to history lessons with Polish-Hungarian accents, learned the secrets of the work of a 3D printer and… compared the PH of the water of the Oder and Danube – says Krzysztof Lazaj. “We also had the pleasure of meeting Yelyzaveta Kushyk of the International Visegrad Fund, who talked about the advisability of implementing international projects.
On behalf of ALO in Rybnik, Renata Klimek-Kowalska, Vice-Director of ALO in Rybnik, and a French teacher, Adelajda Patyk, English teacher and Antoni Adamczyk, physical education teacher were involved in the project.
The result of the joint project work “Fit here, healthy there, let’s do it together” is the calendar with interesting events and recipes for healthy dishes, posters promoting a friendly lifestyle, the project’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556923358777 where activities, unforgettable impressions, beautiful friendships and new experiences were documented.
